What they do not teach you in cosmetology school, now in a book!

What they didn’t teach you in cosmetology school…

… now in book form.  Actually digital eBook form Marianna and ClipperGuy.

This is my book ClipperGuy Says… All Work Performed By Students Under the Supervision Of a Licensed Instructor.  This is my 52 week road map to cosmetology and barber school success.  This is NOT curriculum.  This is above and beyond.  This is the OTHER stuff that is not typically part of cosmetology school.

Here is how it works.  Read the book once all the way through.  The go back.  Read one page each week for 53 weeks, one full year… about the time it takes to go through 1,500 hours of cosmetology school.  Read the page on Friday… Think about it over the weekend.  Then DO IT on Monday… whatever the skill, concept or idea was for the week.

The book is set up in 52 pages… one for each week in a full year.  If you follow the page-by-page program for the entire year… 365 days later you will graduate READY to OWN the beauty business.  Ready to chart a course and conquer your piece of the beauty industry.

Educators use the book weekly in class.  Students use the book by themselves for a self study program.

This is the stuff you need to know to go beyond what you get in school.  Schools can buy the book in bulk form Marianna and put them in their student kits.  Contact your Marianna school rep to make that happen.  Students and educators can purchase the book individually here at THIS LINK.

Pack up your manikin - Take this Marianna rock and roll show on the road!

Life on the road is just a fact of life for a rockstar.  Your rockstar manikin competition entry needs to hit the road to get to Marianna to be considered for the BIG trip to Las Vegas.

Here are a few tips for packing and shipping your manikin successfully... so it arrives in all (or most) of its rock and roll glory.

Save and use the box your manikin came in.  The manikin head fits in there well and it will protect it.  Pack this box in a slightly bigger box for shipping.  It is better to pack the manikin snugly than to have too much room and have the head rocking and rolling around in a too-big box.

Do not worry about crushing the hairstyle a bit when you pack it up.  It will spring right back to life when we take it out of the box... How do you think Mick Jagger still looks so good after all these years?

Overspray your manikin... see the crush it tip above.  Spray it up good with dry, firm hold hairspray.  Then spray it again.  Then spray it again... can you tell I grew up in the 1980s?... More spray the better... This will insure the style lasts even after your manikin's pack and ship trip.

Put a few photos in the box.  Snap a few pictures of your finished style from a few angles.  Toss them in the box.  Our crew of ready rock and roll roadies will take your manikin out of the box and primp it backstage as needed so it is ready when the lights go down and the spotlights come on.

Here is a link to the competition fyler for a review of the details:

Snake bit!

Snake bit!

The Arizona desert is well known to be home to a rattlesnake or two.  My recent trip to Phoenix had me come face to face with a mean Viper.

Quite unexpectedly, my NEW Marianna Viper barber shears, 6.5” got a piece of me.  I was working with a student to capture a youtube video (LINK HERE to the video) when in between takes I was cleaning up some stray hairs along the bottom of a bob.  My fault.  I was working fast (not the first time) and my ring finger on my left hand got too close to the front end of the snake.  That shear jumped out and bit me!

Good thing I have quick reflexes as I did not close the tool fully.  6’5” carries with it a lot of leverage.  It could have been a lot worse.  I spent a few hours in the emergency room at Phoenix memorial.  Thank you to the doctor and nurses there.  The offending Viper is pictured here, so is my hospital wrist band and my bandages finger.

That shear is super sharp.  Actually that was a good thing.  I cut myself just before the beginning of a two hour class.  I instantly applied pressure and a half dozed bandaids.  I did my class and then went off in search of the closest hospital.  The combination of pressure, time and the surgical precision of the two cuts 9 from each of the blades made it so that when they cut off the bandaids at the hospital it was already sealing well and did not need to be stitched.  Some surgical glue and more pressure and bandaging was all that was needed.

Bottom line… GREAT shears.  Great medical attention… and they students STILL got a GREAT class.

Get Excited and carry on!

Get excited and carry on

There has recently been a rage on in adapting the British World War two slogan “Keep Calm and Carry On”.  Versions of it have been adapted to any and many business situations and fecebook postings.  I am over it… almost.  I will do my version here and now and THEN I will officially be over it…

Get Excited and carry on!  That is my slogan for the Marianna Ultimate School tote pictured here happily posed with by students at Cutting Edge academy in Peoria, AZ north of Phoenix.  They love their totes and all the Marianna goods, manikins and supplies the totes can swallow up.  Speak with your Marianna sales representative today to learn more about these great school totes and the hot price we are currently offering.

Carry on!

Learning to clipper cut
